FROM THE EDITOR
Thank you for visiting my site. It goes without saying how much I love
parrots. My husband and I have six in our flock. They are – Trixie – Peachfaced Lovebird Trixie was our first bird thirteen years ago and we just fell in love with her. No other bird loves like a lovebird. She has had a few health problems, including recently having had a stroke. Fortunately our Trixie is tough and prevails through everything. Our Hahn's, Gobo, was the next addition to our family. Since then my husband and I have been drawn to macaws, especially the minis. Gobo is the comedian of the house and charms everyone he meets. He has an excellent vocabulary and speaks very clearly. Sophie was the next bird to become a part of our flock. She was not accustomed to being handled by people, so it took some time and patience to get her to trust us instead of bite us. What we uncovered was a very funny, sensitive, and loving bird. The pain and blood shed were worth it. Sophie has the largest vocabulary of all the minis. When we are playing with her she will tell us, "Hey, hey, hey! Knock it off!" When we purchased Gobo we also picked up a book on bird training and in it was a photo of an Illiger's mini macaw. I thought they were the most beautifully colored of all the minis and would periodically search for one to buy. My husband surprised me one day by taking me to meet an Illiger’s he had found for sale in a pet store. Of course, Cory came home with us. He is very shy but shows more of his personality every day. Norton was our second Pacific Parrotlet. He flew into Oregon from the Parrotlet Ranch in California. It is so true these little parrots have big attitudes. Norton has no qualms about challenging anyone or anything invading his territory but he also has the sweetest personality. I love it when he sits on my shoulder cuddling me and chirps those cute little chirps of his. I swore five was enough. Then a cockatiel landed in the neighbor's yard. They brought him to us and we put out flyers trying to find his parents. I argued with my husband we were not going to keep this bird. My husband won and Milo has not wanted anything to do with him since. No, Milo is not unhappy here he just loves his mommy more than his daddy. I now know why cockatiels are so popular. Milo never has a bad attitude and is never loud. Thank you again for visiting our site. I hope you enjoyed meeting our flock. Photos of them are used in the top banner of the website pages.
